Free Ideas

Please help out with even a trivial donation so I can maintain putting in hours each day to write Congress, write the Federal Reserve, post on internet news stories truth in financial data that the media is keeping from you and to push for the removal of Ben Bernanke. I posted a petition on change.org for his removal as well. You may see who I am from my other sites. I am not getting a penny from inventions that I should have my name on neither will I attempt to pursue patent protection on any of my ideas in the future. A person should have some value to society when utilizing the mind as much as this. I am deemed unemployable from being far too productive relative to my degree level and it simply annoys human resource personnel. To be averaging an income at the poverty level for my contributions, past and present, is a travesty on society and doesn’t make me happy but I will continue contributing no matter what. If anyone could set me up with an angel investor, I would be able to come up with even more innovations.

I have no faith in how the system of intellectual property functions with our wonderful government involved. Many of us have heard of stories how ideas were usurped from persons, selfishly bought out by special interests to purposely NOT develop because it would hurt them financially. There is also the aspect that once someone devises of a terrific idea, no company bothers to implement the idea and since there is lots of regulation and of course costs involved, it is not practical for an individual to implement an idea on their own. As far as the United States Patent Office goes, this agency takes too many years to confer patents, though if you pay more, you could speed it up. Imagine that, the time line of the patent process is dependent on extra money spent as opposed to the merit of a crucial need by society. And just like how legal jargon is used in the legal system, the USPTO is stuck in out-dated wording and does not like plainly written patent applications that would make it easy for laypersons to understand. One of my ideas is to allow one patent per person, for free, either dependent on a measurement of income or perhaps not at all. There is also the redundant document that must accompany patent applications and it's called a "Declaration" that simply declares that the person named in the patent application is the one who did the inventing. This declaration document is senseless but allows the USPTO to slap an extra fee if it was not included at the time of submission of the patent claims that are inherently declared by the submitter. I personally invented a variety of things such as nikkomycin Z transdermal formulations and even though I have proof of it, the USPTO still has persons listed on the patent that did not make the formulations. After so much writing to the USPTO and urging Congress to assist, the patent is still not reflected correctly. I invented an HPLC purification process for the same chemical, a dosing device that helped an unscrupulous company steal from investors for two additional years. There were a few other ideas and some I never bothered to tried to apply for a patent because of the price involved. I was also surprised when thinking about applying for a patent and seeing my idea was already thought of a year prior or even 20 years prior and yet it was amazing that the patent never got implemented thus demonstrating one may waste lots of money and effort all for nothing. Scroll to bottom to see documentation.

Unless you have the financial resources or the right persons involved, no idea ever has to go anywhere. Therefore, being the process is stacked against one who uses their mind to try to make an impact on life and hoping to get some compensation for the contribution to society, it would make better sense to just let all of one's ideas be placed in the public domain so that no one company can monopolize the use of an idea and the selfless giving away of ideas is still preferable for the advancement of the human race instead of keeping the ideas in secrecy.

Presented below are a fair number of ideas given to the public domain. I could come up with novel ideas all the time to solve problems, however, without the resources to get costly patents and to produce physical items, little else could be done besides just noting and having to give away the ideas for free or to keep them hidden. Systems-related ideas require willingness on behalf of some entity that could make use of the idea and even if it would afford greater profitability, increased efficiency, or greater safety, it does not mean the entity would adopt the beneficial system out of ignorance or a dumb policy of not accepting outside ideas. Ideas of a physical nature could be introduced to entities for them to manufacture while sacrificing much profit, yet still again, ignorance or company policy may prevent this from happening. To my amazement, upon trying to sell some badly needed add-in programs for Microsoft Excel to Microsoft Corporation, I kept running into a brick wall and eventually found where a person could submit their idea to their company yet would never receive compensation – now how is that suppose to stimulate innovation while realizing so many of the employees are getting paid to develop programs? I’ve tried to submit many of my ideas to companies yet over and over again, it’s futile. I am still disturbed about the “Forever Stamp” that I am the first one to introduce the concept to the United States Postal Service and of still other innovations. The idea I presented to the Department of Transportation to display the number of seconds remaining of yellow lights in traffic signals may eventually get adopted and I’d probably be trying to fight them to try to get some acknowledgement and compensation as of course there are those highly paid in the department who get paid for who knows what and to be blocked out of receiving some means of survival with my contributions to society just does not seem justified.

1-1. Beverage containers containing a breakable bladder filled with water to enable rinsing of the mouth
Conceived on 4-10-2010: Within soda or other sugar-containing beverage container, a breakable bladder contained therein containing water that upon holding the spout with a finger and jerking the bottle, the bladder would break, enabling rinsing the mouth of the sugary beverage to prevent cavities in the teeth.

1-2. Boron Nitride Cookware
Boron nitride, a ceramic material, has long been used in refractory applications. It has a high melting point, high strength, and relatively high thermal conductivity (just higher than for stainless steel). Since molten aluminum does not stick to boron nitride, it is used as a crucible for melting aluminum. This non-stick property is notable and as such, could be used as a non-stick surface for cooking. Additionally, it can be used in a microwave oven, is non-toxic, and chemically inert. Although presently the price for boron material is relatively high, the price would fall dramatically if it found wider uses since the basic materials involved in its manufacture are actually quite inexpensive and the product is easily machined. The physical properties of boron nitride would be quite amenable for cookware and thus either boron nitride coated cookware or full boron nitride cookware could become a versatile mainstay in kitchens.

1-3. Vitamin D augmentation in fish
Based on the concept of increasing the vitamin D in mushroom from exposure to UV light, I propose this same concept be applied to fish. A study could be done to determine relative efficiencies of producing the sought result on pre- and post- mortem fish. If this is successful, it would have an enormous consequence on the world population that even in equatorial regions where people are getting less sun exposure from doing more work indoors as well as travel being done by vehicles as opposed to walking, that vitamin D deficiency could be solved without direct physical supplementation of certain chosen foods.

2-1. Exploitation of capillary action to lift water (hypothesis)
Exploit capillary action of water. In attempts to construct an example of perpetual energy, I tried using a capillary over water and a fabric attached to top of capillary that would also be in contact with water at the top of the tube, allowing the fabric to soak but it would not further drip to induce a cycle though there could be minimal energy expended to squeeze the fabric at a level higher than the reservoir supplying the capillary and in step-wise fashion, water could be lifted at a lower use of energy (and cost) than without the free energy imparted by the capillary.

2-2. Mattress labeling to enable optimum mattress rotation
For optimum mattress wear, mattress rotation could be facilitated by having a number/season tag on each corner of the mattress going in order from one corner to the next. A tag, such as a small sticker would be placed in an inconspicuous location at one corner of the bed frame to serve as a reference point for the orientation of the mattress. Upon a period of wear, the mattress orientation would be changed with the ordering in this fashion, there will be a flip and/or rotation for each new position. This enables better control over mattress wear that before this invention, a person would only be able to guess at the previous orientation and not be assured of rotating into a different position than prior. This invention would help prolong the life of the mattress. (I would like to have a token of appreciation if finally someone takes my idea…I tried to present this idea to mattress manufacturers but could get no one to respond to me – another example of how innovation is stifled).

2-3. Flour bleaching with UV light
I didn’t research to see if UV light is currently used for bleaching flour but if it isn’t or isn’t widespread, I’d recommend studying its use. Various chemicals such as nitrogen trichloride have been used for flour bleaching but chemical treatments could possibly be replaced with UV light. Technically, oxidation occurs from UV light in the presence of oxygen but no esoteric chemicals are used. Oxidation from UV light may alter the nutritional content of flour and so the effects of UV light would need to be compared with other known processes.

2-4. Pole Ladder
A pole ladder constructed of 3/16” walled, 3” square stock steel of length 8’ having 1” holes spaced 6” apart on 2 sides for insertion of rods for climbing, a top piece have 4 guy cables of length 20’ having ring ends to either attach additional cables or for securing into the ground with stakes for stabilization. The bottom section of the pole is fastened into a base consisting of square stock receiving the lowest pole and three pieces of same material welded perpendicularly and radially to the pole of length 2’ to permit ease in transport but will always have 1 to 2 additional 8’ lengths attached while in use. The ends of the base is to be connected to a compound stock receiving the ends plus a vertical welded square stock to receive an adjustable attached 2’ length of 3” square stock. When the pole is higher than 24’ the base would be extended by additional 8’ sections. All additional sections, for the pole and radial arms of base have a welded inner square stock protruding 1’ for attachment and secured with a removable peg. Should be safe for up to 40’ for which an additional vertical section with 4 additional guy cables located 24’ above ground would be prudent for safety. This was conceived for cutting trees. Actual material composition does not have to be steel as this is only a proposal. The use of heavier gauge, lighter weight aluminum or aluminum alloy would likely be a better choice.

A rotating table powered by the Sun to allow even propagation of plant so that stems do not bend in one direction as would normally occur when placed near a window.

2-6. Smoke detector comprised of two sections for increased detection ability
I propose a detector that is comprised of two sections, 6 feet or so apart and about 7 feet above floor level with a light ray emanating from one section and a collector on the other. In this arrangement smoke could be detected over a larger distance and would not be so negatively affected by wind drafts or motion of air that may go around enclosures of present compact detectors.

2-7. Method for assurance of separation of shells from shelled nuts
Proposal of lightly spray-coating of a highly sensitive dye onto shells before going through shelling operation, and as a last step before nuts are partitioned for further process such as chopping or packaging, the nuts would pass through a detector apparatus to spot the dye for purging of unwanted shell material. In the event that the dye coating process marks the internal nut as if the shell was open, a false positive may result but as long as the percentage of false positives is kept to an acceptable minimum quantity, then this technology of improving the quality of nuts being absent of shell material would offset product loss.

2-8. Portable personal computer with projector to lessen weight and extend battery life
Incorporating the typical portable laptop or notebook computer except with a removable folding half containing the monitor that could be replaced with a folding top that serves as a blank screen that would serve as the surface for a projection monitor as well as detaching the blank screen for a larger display on an external surface such as a white wall. The overall weight would be reduced when choosing to utilize the blank screen top and the batteries would have a much longer life between charging.

2-9. Crushed rock roads with the addition of non-trivial percentage of clay
Crushed rock roads are cost-effective and technically not considered as a “developed road” which means they are also taxed less. Of course some home-owners would prefer to have an asphalt alternative but the taxes are a prohibitive factor. Asphalt is far more durable besides being more attractive. This proposal seeks to improve both the attractiveness and durability of regular crushed rock roads.
Crushed rocks for roads is most often three-quarter-minus which means rock crushed to a maximum of ¾” screening, including fines. From numerous years of experience with such roads, they are prone to loosening, bringing larger rocks to the surface. Once loosened, wash-out can occur from heavy rains. A well-laid crushed rock road can look good for some months to a couple of years based on wear and weather but they simply cannot maintain over the long-run, the packing that is produced from a heavy roller.
I have found that the finest of dirt particles, clay, could be added to provide for a longer-lasting, smoother, and better looking road. I propose that to the addition of ordinary three-quarter-minus that clay be added in the ratio of 1:8 up to 1:4. The cost for clay is reasonable to not appreciably increase the cost of this addition.
Photos demonstrating the difference between ordinary crushed rock road and one with the addition of clay can be viewed here:

4-1. Boron nitride for coating teeth
The use of boron nitride for coating of teeth. In fact a modification to crystalline structure is one of the hardest substances known. It is used in dental cement. A brushable form is available and could be adapted for use in dentistry.

4-2. Reducing agents for teeth whitening (hypothesis)
For teeth whitening, oxidizers have been the chosen types of chemicals but other chemicals having the opposite property, that is of reducing agents such as sodium thiosulfate could be investigated to determine efficacy. Without a mouthpiece, I tried to conduct an experiment with this chemical but it was indeterminable without the needed mouthpiece. I invite others to consider chemicals other than oxidizers such as peroxides.

4-3. Use of nikkomycin as antibacterial dentifrice
Cavities-primarily from a certain streptococcus bacteria -this is meaningless to most who aren’t familiar with this classification, but in knowing this trivia, one can research and consider antibacterial dentifrices to help prevent cavities and perhaps in doing so, eliminate purposeful fluoride administration. I propose using a combination of a palatable zinc compound with a nikkomycin as an antibacterial/dentifrice.

4-4. Azeleic acid addition to hair conditioners to prevent hair loss
Azeleic acid at 5% concentration can inhibit 100% of DHT that clogs hair pores leading to baldness. It is a simple acid and could either be isolated from watermelons or synthesized to be used in no-rinse hair conditioners. Suggest investigating oral supplements of azelaic acid and compare in vitro test with adipic acid and sebacic acid. All these are simple straight chain dicarboxylic acids, azelaic having 9, adipic 6, and sebacic 10 carbon atoms.

4-5. High concentration nicotinic acid for hair loss prevention
High concentration nicotinic acid (classified as nutrient and likely not subject to scrutiny by the FDA) to dilate blood vessels on scalp curbing hair loss in much the same principal of already approved drugs used for the same purpose. Nicotinic has limited solubility in water and even low solubility in propylene glycol (despite “soluble” term being applied in conjunction with propylene glycol. I estimate the solubility at about 3% in this solvent). Propylene glycol leaves hair with a greasy appearance for several hours and thus a formulation would need to be devised, possibly with water, alcohol and other additives whether acid/base or otherwise augmenting solubility. My guess is that around 5-10% nicotinic acid in favorable formulation to be massaged into scalp after washing would effect similar results as popular marketed drugs for the use of hair loss prevention. Some products actually contain niacin but primarily as a trivial ingredient and not for the primary action of nicotinic acid’s vasodilating effect.

4-6. Septic tank monitoring and maintenance
Proposal is for a lighted video camera inserted at the top of septic tanks for monitoring the level of waste. For maintenance, I suggest no septic tank pumping but instead using of sodium hydroxide of sufficient quantity to dissolve the waste and then followed up with enzyme treatment within 1 to 2 months.

4-7. Replace artificial sweeteners with a sugar alcohol such as erythritol (proposal)
Erythritol and sorbitol are naturally occurring though are commercially synthesized. These non-cavity forming sugar alcohols need to find greater use to replace not just sucrose but also to avoid the use of artificial sweeteners such as saccharine, aspartame and acesulfame.

4-14. Increase use of natural insecticides such as black pepper, chili peppers, and eucalyptus (proposal)
Use pepper and other natural occurring plants or plant substances, eucalyptus, menthol, camphor etc. as necessary to ward off insects. Piperidine (black pepper), capsaicin (chili peppers), nepetelactone (catnip) and cineol, menthol, and camphor from various trees such as camphor and eucalyptus are all good natural insecticides. Use synthetic insecticides ONLY for temporary problematic situations. It has been concluded that there are certain man-made insecticides that are detrimental to bees and since bees are the major pollinators, an extra push for this proposal is warranted.

4-15. Exploit lotus leaf property of repelling adhesion (hypothesis)

4-23. Field test for the determination of safe mushrooms
This idea has obvious ramifications. The test could positively identify either toxic and/or non-toxic mushrooms. The test should not be difficult to create, provided the necessary chemicals such as muscarine and muscimol are played with. If there are compounds in non-toxic mushrooms also having similar functional groups as of these two chemicals noted above, then the test becomes more difficult and may involve finding a chemical that turns color differentially. A less convenient though probably more robust test could be developed using live culture test strips with an observable marker to determine state of toxicity.

4-24. Home diagnostic kits for nutrients in body
Home diagnostic kits have come a long way for glucose determination. Previously injections were necessary, but no longer. I propose herein that in bypassing expensive medical facility costs, that kits be developed for the determination of nutrients in the body, including but not limited to vitamin B12, iron, and iodine. The technological advances as it relates to non-evasive in-home glucose testing should help shorten time from research to market.

4-25. Home diagnostic kits for sexually-transmitted diseases and urinary tract infections
Although visual examination may help elucidate various infections of the urinary tract and sex organs, it would be useful if in-home diagnostic kits were made available for proper identification. A kit could be developed using a minimal amount of testing materials to perform the diagnosis. I anticipate a microscope would not be necessary but in the even it is, a one-piece inexpensive lens of a single magnification power could be developed. Such a kit would help take the burden off of medical personnel and to help the public in lessening medical costs.

5-1. Logic test for use in voting
A series of random SIMPLE logic questions given at the voting booth to give those who demonstrate the ability to think a vote and disallow those who really demonstrate an incapacity of thinking – sounds unfair at first but if no intelligence is behind the voting, why should it be meaningful? Perhaps just 5 questions could be asked, and if more than one question was answered incorrectly, without the voter's knowledge, the cast votes would NOT count. This is a bit different from an IQ test, it only assures that the voter has some sense of reasoning. People should be expected to make intelligent choices, not choices based on emotion and the logic test helps determine who are capable of making good choices, ESPECIALLY on difficult to understand wording on ballot measures (propositions).

5-2. Logic test for use in jury selection
Logic test for jurors and for voting - have 5 logic questions that vary on ballots (5 picked at random from 100 different logic questions) and if less than 4 are correct, then the entire ballot does not count. For jurors, I suggest 20 questions and reject juror if less than 19 are correct being that the consequence of unintelligent reasoning as it pertains to possible penalty to a person requires a higher degree of certainty in the ability to think.

5-3. Logic test given to judges, city/district attorneys, and law officers
Similar to idea #5-2, there needs to be a logic test given to judges, all levels of city/district attorneys, and to law officers. The logic test should be developed to ascertain excellent reasoning ability and to elucidate whether ego-driven motivations have a chance of interfering with due process. A biannual testing could be conducted to assure fairness in the judicial system.

At present, it would seem improbable to get judges to succumb to such a test without a threat of charging for contempt of court but if the idea floats about for some time, its future use may be possible. Even though judges were once lawyers, it does not automatically follow that judges think logically and devoid of undue emotion that may be a manifestation of an ego problem. I’ve encountered plenty of lawyers and judges to know that they are not necessarily exceptional human beings in being able to put law and reason above controlling or vindictive behavior. I’ve had some experience with a couple of district attorneys to know even they don’t necessarily have command of logic and/or allowed their egos or conflict of interest to get in the way of bringing a case to court and even when it was identified of their logical failures, they didn’t want to acknowledge their shortcomings to rectify appropriately. It is truly sad that this sort of thing would occur but it must be happening every single day to thousands of cases throughout the country. A person sharp in reasoning skills and high moral standards should be the more crucial basis for hiring as opposed to being able to present a credential of passing from an educational program. In some form, it should also apply to law officers as it’s always assumed that their testimony is solid per their swearing of an oath but yet again, I’ve seen how law officers fail to pay attention to crucial details and will write reports incorrectly.

Generally speaking, these types of tests could be used for most all occupations since it cannot be inferred that any educational program adequately tested graduates in this area. A lot of problems occur in the workplace when people choose to let their emotions run and could cost someone a job for no reason of their own. Common government employees who interface with the public surely need this type of testing as well as we’ve all seen how some such employees (such as perhaps in social welfare programs or motor vehicle department) may become irate and take out their frustrations on the public.

5-4. Parsing of adult material on the internet
Summarized with email sent to the FRC, Confirmation Number: 785160:
RE: Volunteer Inquiry
Subject: urge to consider .xxx talking point
Inquiry: Regarding the use of .xxx domain names. Please do not consider this as a way of legitimizing pornography, but rather to isolate it from the better part of the internet. I propose that just like for spam mail, once a person ends up on a site showing pornography that isn't a .xxx domain name (NOT MAKING IT VOLUNTARY to abide by but to force .xxx on all pornographers), then a person would be able to tag it to send to ICANN. Perhaps Internet explorer and other browsers will have a button to click on to report a site. The FRC may assist ICANN perhaps if they are overloaded with report requests.

5-5. Phasing out of natural gas lines to residential areas
A tremendous natural gas explosion that occurred in San Bruno California in 2010 highlights the dangers of underground natural gas lines in residential areas. I propose that natural gas service becomes phased out in residential areas first and then to commercial areas second unless the industry highly depends on it and the gas line route is located at least a minimally prescribed distance from a prescribed population density and is checked with rigor. Natural gas could be used for electricity generation and for selected industries only, mitigating dangers to public, lessening infrastructure required to install and maintain gas lines, and make electricity slightly less expensive in the process. Residential appliances using natural gas are considered more efficient, however, when considering utility company abandoning residential gas lines and using natural gas for electricity production, it is anticipated that residential utility bills would not be adversely affected.

For shows like “American Idol” where contestants compete with only one eventual winner, I propose two things: 1) dropping the term “idol” as it reinforces a behavioral trait that is debilitating. 2) Being that for America, for example, where there is a population of about 300 million, selecting perhaps 30 total as winners, perhaps 5 no better and no worse than others in 6 different categories, 5 of which are in a certain classification and one category being open or unclassified, more would be given deserving recognition. Possibly, in addition to the final 30, 1 person who appears to stand out above the rest could be chosen as the so-called “best” but not to take away the remaining 29 finalists. Realizing that 30 finalists is even 1 in 10 million people, it seems reasonable that even these high odds are meriting of outstanding recognition.

5-7. Retail store receipts enabling consumer to view originator of goods purchased
Origination of goods (from a point of view of knowledge to consumers to see first hand the trade balance for which to stimulate discussion etc to make for balanced economy without waiting for government figures to be announced on some periodic intervals that many Americans will never even hear of). On the receipts, itemization as follows could be instituted:
Differentiation of taxes based on country of origin – this is only until full integration of all nations.
American made products / produce taxed at __
Foreign made products/produce taxed at ___
Immediate awareness of foreign-made goods could be ascertained. Example: viewing a receipt listed as $14.69 at 15% tax U.S. and $82.52 at 18% tax Foreign can provide the consumer with “feedback” of purchases. Alternatively or in concert with the above idea is to have price labels clearly marked with origination of goods.

5-8. Reasonable suggested retail prices provided by manufactures of products to help prevent piracy (proposal)
Regarding piracy, specifically of cell phones, music, textbooks, and computer software: When the profit margin sought is exceedingly high versus alternative methods, piracy will occur to a great extent. Lessening profit margins to reasonable levels counters the desire to save money through the hassle, loss of quality in some instances, and direct money involved in duplication. Understandably capitalism supports high prices through demand but when there is a possibility of a secondary market offering similar to identical product, the capitalistic attitude should be adjusted to offer reasonable prices that at the same time would ward off illegal reproduction.

5-9. Limitations on election campaigning for greater fairness
Elections/campaigning –tv/radio without personal appearances. Waste of energy and money in traveling, especially for presidential candidates and secondarily for the United States Congress and governors. This enables fairness in campaigning as far as being able to allocate same airtime to candidates. Personal appearances would have to be in passing and no special media attention given to them. Viewing a candidate in person should not impress anyone. It’s not a big deal with the usual candidate to use either their money or others to travel to all sorts of places to garnish votes. It’s done because it is psychologically effective and both the candidates should not take advantage of the disposition of people while at the same time the people increase their understanding that a personal appearance is for the benefit of the candidate, not any other individual. There is a great waste of time campaigning and saying things over and over again. Having speeches on television the same amount of time as for other candidates who meet a low yet reasonable limit of signatures to be considered as a viable candidate. Signatures can be conventional or electronic such as via the internet (with obvious safeguards in place). A simple, low-cost, and easy to locate website should be made available for a one-stop location to view the candidates profile and stance. No more polling. Results are not to be made available until after all voting. No organization allowed to take polls on voting for upcoming elections otherwise a criminal penalty would be imposed.

5-10. Electronic voting
Until which time everyone owns a computer with internet access (could be a long time away from this) and with adequate safety measures in place to allow for honest voting, precincts could have computer tablets placed on tables with partitions, eliminating voting booths. This is to cut down on paper waste and avoid mechanical failures of vote tallying. After a successful ballot casting, an identifying number would be presented via the computer tablet screen to check on the internet within the respective precinct. If the voter requests, he/she could have a short printout of the votes cast along with the identifying number (the amount of paper used would be much less than that of an ordinary ballot. The voter would have access to a read-only database of the votes cast in the precinct, ordered by identifying number to verify that the person’s vote is included, and of course no names of the voter but of each vote on all candidates and measures along with a summary total.

5-11. Electronic voting for public to bring down the compensation of OVERPAID GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES in an effort to save the taxpayers $1 TRILLION PER YEAR
Through electronic means, the taxpayers of this nation, WHOM ARE THE INDIRECT EMPLOYERS of the OVERPAID, UNDER-WORKED, BAD ATTITUDE, LOAFERS, should be able to vote to determine REASONABLE salaries for these largely unchecked, unmotivated employees of the government.

6-1. GPS sensor in American style football
Conceived in January 2008. A GPS sensor could be placed in the football for accurate determination of plays. Carefully constructed tennis balls that suspend the GPS sensor in the center is a possibility to allow for use in tennis as well. Modification of rules (at least in football) may be required as playing boundaries may need to accommodate ball position, trumping over foot position.

6-4. Modifications of sports to account for height increases since rules were developed (proposal).
Since rules were developed for sports such as but not limited to basketball, tennis, and volleyball, there has been an undeniable increase in average height of professional players. In retaining the finesse of games, whenever possible, rules could be modified to accommodate, at least partially, the increase in height. Modifications should not be so great as to cause undo distress so that, for example, in professional basketball, the basketball rim raised could be raised anywhere from 0.5” to 0.75”, depending on the basketball commission. For games such as volleyball and tennis, the nets could be raised from 0.25” to 0.5”. If height increase continues, future small incremental modifications of sporting rules would be in order.

6-5. Modified rules for beginning level baseball to promote equitable participation
In lower levels of baseball there has been an effort to not allow the game of baseball to continue when the score is lopsided. This puts statistics at risk and total playing time in an inordinate way relative to longer lasting games. I propose that in each half inning, 9 players have the opportunity to be at bat. The number of outs would be unimportant but after the ninth player has batted, the half inning is concluded. The number of innings could be chosen by the organization but my rough estimation of 6 innings might prove to be sufficient for the determination of the better team. If there is a tie after 6 innings, it could be considered as a “tie” even though not typical for the game of baseball, or revert to the common 3-out rule for successive innings. Based on the number of innings, to share in the pitching, it could be decided to split the pitching duties in half and allowance to let whomever pitch if going beyond regular innings.

6-6. New statistic for basketball altering the "triple-double"
I emphatically state that the triple-double is slanted more on the assists and rebounds than points scored. Having 10 rebounds and 10 assists is fabulous, but 10 points scored is not. Therefore, I believe there should be a new category, with a more meaningful stat demonstrating a big team contribution and individual performance, specifically having 25 points scored with 10 rebounds and 10 assists. This new stat could be named "FAB" for "fabulous", or any other agreed term, or even latin "viginti quinque decem decem" standing for "25,10,10" and could be abbreviated "VQDD", though I think referring to the number of "FAB" games might be more liked.

7-1. Record book category broadening for human feats (proposal)
World records to have 1 year, 10 year, and unlimited categories for human body feats such as beard and fingernail growing. In this way, not only would categories be increased to stimulate participation, but new findings could be made as far as rate increases that wouldn’t be discovered otherwise by only an unlimited category that would greatly limit the number of willing participants. Guinness is the most notable company for which this would apply and accordingly, public assistance in requesting Guinness to broaden its categories could effect this cause.

8-1. Innovation promotion policies for patenting process.
The present system for patenting in the United States stifles innovation by having a prohibitively high front-end cost as well as back-end cost. Specifically, the current charge of roughly $500 or half a month's net wages from a minimum wage job is required for a basic patent application. If a patent is conferred, there is an additional cost of well over $1000 or about a month's wages from a minimum wage job.
It is proposed that one patent application per lifetime for an individual be free of cost. It is also proposed that no back-end cost of patent conferring be imposed for any individual patent application until which time a third-party purchases the patent or if the individual decides to actively pursue the patent to garnish actual revenues upon which time the patent office imposes not just the $1000+ fee but an amount of 10 times this amount.

For the greater good of society in enabling competition to provide lower costs to consumers, it is also proposed that the term of patents be made to last ten years only, with no possibility of extension.

And lastly, in order for commerce to flow with innovations, the patent process, excepting for the time added for procuring additional requests of information from the applicant, shall be no longer than 6 months. It is ludicrous that in today's fast life that an innovation ca be held up from the public for 4 to 5 years because the patent office is slow. This slowness is inexcusable and must be remedied immediately.

8-2. "Finishing" professional services
A "Finishing" service used in this sense refers to the completion of services that was performed to some extent but not to professional standards. In an effort in becoming more self-sufficient to save money, consumers could have the choice of paying a lesser amount for professional services to complete what they were unable to adequately. This would be quite appropriate for dental cleaning and for hair-cutting though could be extended to other fields. It is proposed that a quick assessment be conducted ahead of time and depending on the extent of work required for the finishing service in terms of time, whether it be 5 or 10 minutes or some other appropriate time measure, a much reduced charge could be assessed for each of these tiers compared to the normal high cost had the consumer not made the effort in having a fair amount of the work done non-professionally. It is really unreasonable to expect that a person who does his/her own dental cleaning but has trouble getting to a few tooth surfaces or a person who cuts his/her own hair but has trouble cutting on the backside of the head be charged full price. Suggested prices could be as such: If full price for a normal hair cut is $10, then a 5-minute price at $3 and a 10-minute price of $5 could be charged. Similarly, if dental cleaning is conducted, with a process that typically takes longer, if the normal full price is $50, then a 10-minute price of $12 and a 20-minute price of $20 would be a much more fair price charged for the work performed.[In my other writings that goes into the inordinate cost of health care services, the cost for dental cleaning would be more appropriate at $20-30 so that a 10-minute or 20-minute service charge of $6 or $10 would be fair.]

8-3. Virtual Travel
Road trips could be conducted in a virtual sense by having wide-angle cameras mounted on vehicles to cover most major roadways and parks. For parks, there could be an additional camera mounted to enable higher elevations or possibly when a notable landmark is approached, there would be a manual operation of the camera to show the landmark in it’s entirety. The user could be able to control speed and direction, as well as make turns when available. I came up with this idea in the mid 1990’s since there are so many scenic roadways - I figure lots of people would like to see what it’s like to drive around in an area they were never at before and if so interested, could make the trip in actuality later. This idea could be extended to include video of major landmarks of the world in just enough length to cover most notable features.

8-4. Means for helping to identify underground gas and electric lines
At present, the means for determining underground gas and electric lines relies on above ground markers and contacting a utility company or some other company offering the service of identifying line. Above ground markers are not always present, either from weathering, purposeful or accidental removal, or negligence of erecting markers. Contacting a company to locate underground lines requires time and thus presents a hassle. On July 3, 2010, it occurred to me that if a colored rock, such as a brightly colored green or blue rock is placed back in the ground above the line immediately after placement up to one foot from the surface, there could be a very recognizable means for identifying an underground utility line. If upon digging, an unusual colored rock is encountered, a call could then be made to a company to positively identify the location of underground lines. If by chance there exists an unusual colored rock not associated with any underground utility line upon professional verification, it would simply amount to a false positive, causing no harm.

Secondarily, a map of utility lines could be made available online to help landowners identify the placement of underground utility lines.

8-5. Traffic light modification to alert of remaining time left of the yellow/amber light
This monumental idea came to me in the evening of Sep 18, 2011. Without going into the usual traffic light system as I assume everyone is familiar with it, I suggest the middle light, whether it be yellow or amber, be displayed in at least the final few seconds with a numerical representation denoting the number of seconds remaining. In this way, intersection collisions may be dramatically alleviated as a driver would have a clue as to whether the light will turn red to know in advance whether to slow down or attempt to continue into the intersection.

8-6. Efficient means to opt-out of allowable phone numbers used by telemarketing companies - extension applied to email spamming
When there is a far greater number of person wishing to opt-out of being telemarketed, the obvious way is to set up a system in which only those wishing to be telemarketed make the effort to sign up to be included in the allowable database of phone numbers. In this way, the list would be much smaller, far fewer government employees would be needed to input data into a database, the database would be easier to maintain, and would serve as a positive list for which telemarketers could use. I made this clear over and over to the FTC and other government offices upon the implementation of the highly inefficient system that was to be utilized, compelling hundreds of millions of people to opt-out of being telemarketed as opposed to having just the few thousands of persons who might actually opt-in to be telemarketed. Evidently they prefer a more costly and cumbersome method, against what is reasonable.

The same system as applied to spam email could be utilized so as to make the internet email experience far better.

8-17. System of writing format to display two and three track discussions
There are some instances when two or three discussions come directly from a preceding thought and thus to display them linearly as in common convention would obfuscate the totality of the discussion. A format permitting greater than a single dimension is thus warranted under certain circumstances. One simple method in order to permit this is to make use of a multivariate column branching before returning to a single column. An example of such a format:

“----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------“
“----------------------------------------------------““----------------------------------------------------“
“----------------------------------------------------““----------------------------------------------------“
“----------------------------------------------------““----------------------------------------------------“

8-8. Lottery system that increases the number of winners with non-trivial pay-outs
At present large State Lotteries have a minimum or a million or so dollars as the top prize (about 25 times the median annual gross income). In this present system, there will be very few large winners yet a large number of winners of trivial awards (on the order of $1-2 or slightly more). Lottery commissions seem to think that large grand prizes bring in more revenue, however, without testing an alternative, the assumption may be incorrect. Additionally having such a possibility of winning an extreme award of a million or possibly much higher amount hurts society by the pushing of the agenda of greed.

What I propose is what I sent to the California Lottery Commission in the mid-1990's in which all scratch-offs and keno games would be abandoned as it involves so much capital expenditure and/or enforcement and instead only the main ticket lottery would be available to maximize revenue and employing fewer highly-paid [under-worked] government employees. In maximizing the number of non-trivial winners, the top prize could consistently be $50,000 (just over the median annual gross income or roughly the median annual gross income after taxes). This figure would not be completely life-altering for most people but it certainly would be a large enough amount to make a huge difference in the lives of many. While there would be more such top winners, the chances of knowing one would be immensely greater to stimulate lottery participation. Lesser awards could be made a minimum of $10 or so, something more significant than a puny $1 or $2 award that might cost more in gasoline usage than what it's worth to collect the prize. In addition, it would be good if the fairness factor of the game increases from just a 45% or so up to around 70%.

8-9. Arena seating viewing area image to assist in ticket purchases
When making ticket purchases for arena seating, it would be most useful for the purchaser to view a sample image of the viewing area for the particular seating. To effect this, the arena operator would need to strategically associate groupings of seats with a sample viewing image from each of the groupings, preferably with a wide-angle camera lens – doing so for each seat would be too cumbersome and doing so for each typical demarcated arena section would be inadequate. Perhaps each grouping would consist of about a 10 to 20 chairs, depending on the location.

8-10. Reporting of all economic data reports the day before the first stock market trading day of the week
Because of corruption and frenzied price movements when economic data reports are released during normal stock market hours, it is proposed that this information be released on Sunday, before the markets open on the first day of the week. This would be consistent with the illicit Federal Reserve Bank releasing information of bank foreclosures at the end of the week, after normal trading hours. When this is effected, those having unlawful advance knowledge will have a smaller chance of taking financial advantage and the market volatility would be mitigated.

When at all possible, it would be even better if all data was shown online in real-time for all to see as it is being accumulated. Government and Federal Reserve Bank data could be made available in real-time, per certain constraints of reasonable time periods of updating. This is in concert with the novel Stock Market System for which I developed and is described more fully in the book “Thoughtful Living” where corporate revenues and profit would be available in real-time or nearly so and the reporting periods truncated for dividend purposes down to 1 week so an investor can track the performance of corporations without having to wait 3 months and possibly be alarmed from the announced results.

8-11. Population-adjusted data, particularly for use in economics
For the purpose of analyzing data regarding population over time, the population growth rate should be incorporated whenever applicable to standardize data. For example, assuming the consumption per person remains constant and disregarding inflation to isolate this factor, if the population grows, the GDP should grow proportionately. As a concrete example, the nominal GDP growth rate for the first quarter of 2012 in the United States was 3.7%. Subtracting 6-10% real inflation (from http://www.shadowstats.com/alternate_data/inflation-charts incorporating both the 1980 and 1990 methodologies, not the phony 1.5% that the Federal Reserve Bank Cartel uses), along with the 1% population growth rate, we have an estimated range of -7.3 to -3.3% GDP growth rate - inflation and population adjusted, clearly putting the United States in the depression category. This should be done for similar economic data such as retail sales. When comparing month-to-month data, the monthly population growth should also be subtracted and presently is approximately 0.08%. When dealing with comparisons such as movie receipts to assess rankings among movies, this population adjustment along with the rate of inflation should be likewise performed. The rate of inflation is not a perfect science and makes the computations ever so difficult when the disparity of years is great and so the basic measure of movie tickets purchased per population would be the best method for such determination. But while there is an obsession in announcing a movie has record sales in terms of money, it thus becomes necessary to make these appropriate adjustments. Back to top

I still have more ideas, and a couple that I am trying to offer to companies as of December 2012 and fully expect them to turn down the opportunity when I would be asking for so little. In time, all of my ideas will be made available. Here are some additional which may or not be worthy to include above later on. Some ideas I just need to transcribe from notes and may move to another location such as a helpful hint site that I plan to make. 1. Military age of recruitment: age 30…maturity, permits better perspective of life and why wars need to happen…unless it’s for defense or extraordinary human tragedies that are not solved by diplomacy, killing to effect a positive ends should not be taken. The United States has a long record of dividing and conquering, playing both sides of the fence and putting in puppet leaders. Lots of wars involve corporations and banking behind the scenes who gain to benefit from war. On the most part, wars take away from the economy, but when there is taking away, some greatly benefit. 2. In this modern world with schooling, notably college, having such a large impact on our lives and with the increasing cost of living, we could use programs to discourage sex and the making kids until which time mental maturity and financial position allows for the beneficial raising of a child. If monetary incentives are provided so be it. It’s sad that so many young females are still having babies and not able to care for them as they could if in a better situation to do so, and many times without the father of the baby around. As per my book, I do understand that what is natural per hormones, but this must be suppressed while this world is so complicated. If we could drive the world to a much simpler life from bringing down the wealth divide, making fewer kids, lowering the legal workweek, lowering the rents to 5% annually of the prorated purchase prices (currently there is no such regulation and while there is none, rentals are usually too high from owners breaking even in about 10 years’ time, and in foreign countries where there is greater oppression and higher birth rates making it worse on the poor, rentals may be paid off in 5 years) then this would not be such an issue. Update May 17, 2013: rattled this off to the ombudsman program at the USPTO: "I am the original inventor for the visual display of ACD trees as I came up with the idea in early 2002 as I could prove and the reason why I didn't apply for a patent at that time is because I was still wanting your USPTO to recognize me as the SOLE inventor for nikkomycin Z formulation that I have PROOF of doing and yet your USPTO prefers to have FALSIFIED records in its database - I have been trying to get this resolved since 1997/1998! The USPTO failed me miserably. Go see my site http://freeideas2society.blogspot.com/ After even me saying this once again, I am 100% certain no one at the USPTO will want to make the necessary corrective actions. I am still wanting $65 returned to me for the inane requirement of a redundant document that should have been generated online when I first applied. Why can't your USPTO do this either? Nothing I do ever gets the necessary attention it deserves. These are ALL MINE: http://www.google.com/patents/US5789387 Why does the USPTO like to have falsified records??? I have proof as I made photo copies of my laboratory notebook since I knew monkey business was going at Shaman Pharmaceuticals. I should have a patent conferred for: http://www.google.com/patents/US20080066015. Oh but I am treated as a nobody. This is very sad."
